Little Ferry police say the two men cut through the screen windows in the front and back windows of the Summit Place home around 5 a.m. Then, they pried the windows open with a crowbar.

The two never gained entry, though, as it's believed the owner's dog deterred them as they fled in an unknown vehicle, police said.

Detectives have been canvassing the area and checking any video footage.
